Immigration Law Updates in Ireland
Recently, Ireland's immigration law has seen significant changes, with notable advancements and a keen interest from many employers in this aspect of employment law. However, with factors like critical skills, salary criteria, eligibility, naturalization, regulations, and procedures to consider, HR teams and organizations have a lot to understand and adapt to. Knowing the process and managing your work flow when employing non-EU nationals is crucial.
Employment permit is mandatory for non-EEA national in order to work in Ireland. There are 9 different types depending on jobs and applications are managed by Department of Enterprise here. Separately employees might be Visa required. There is an updated list of nationals that are visa required here and additional information here.
What employers should consider when employing non-EU nationals? Which nationality they are? Are they on the list for visa requirement ? Are they on the list for employment permit? What is the nature of their work?
What that means, if they are on ineligible list, or general employment permit or critical skills employment permit. Permissions comes with different conditions.
Therefore, as this said above, it is crucial that employers have well designed processes within systems they use, that will help employees ( HR and Recruiting team) to stay up to date easily and monitor all necessary visa requirements in timely manner. What I mean by that is having well design knowledge base makes people’s life easier and enables them to concentrate and make less mistakes when it comes to law requirements.
